Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Industrials and Telecoms sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX rose 0.91% to hit a new 5-year high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA), which rose 4.19% or 0.290 points to trade at 7.205 at the close. Vopak (AS:VOPA) added 2.68% or 1.12 points to end at 42.98 and ABN AMRO Group NV (AS:ABNd) was up 2.66% or 0.67 points to 25.69 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Boskalis Westmin (AS:BOSN), which lost 1.32% or 0.45 points to trade at 33.74 in late trade. Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) declined 1.03% or 0.830 points to end at 79.800 and Aalberts Industries (AS:AALB) shed 0.54% or 0.20 points to 36.80.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 82 to 48 and 10 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 4.81% to 13.62.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was up 1.23% or 0.56 to $46.08 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July rose 1.03% or 0.50 to hit $48.88 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract rose 0.06% or 0.77 to trade at $1229.37 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.08% to 1.0993, while EUR/GBP fell 0.16% to 0.8485.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.08% at 98.53.
