Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Healthcare, Technology and Industrials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX rose 0.49%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which rose 4.37% or 2.180 points to trade at 52.010 at the close. Philips Kon (AS:PHG) added 1.71% or 0.43 points to end at 25.88 and ASML Holding (AS:ASML) was up 1.70% or 1.53 points to 91.70 in late trade.
Biggest losers included DSM Kon (AS:DSMN), which lost 2.14% or 1.29 points to trade at 58.97 in late trade. Unibail Rodamco SE (AS:UNBP) declined 0.83% or 1.95 points to end at 233.25 and Heineken (AS:HEIN) shed 0.20% or 0.16 points to 77.92.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 105 to 50 and 17 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 5.51% to 17.32.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for October delivery was up 1.35% or 0.59 to $44.17 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in November rose 2.14% or 0.98 to hit $46.83 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.48% or 6.35 to trade at $1319.75 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.09% to 1.1239, while EUR/GBP rose 0.12% to 0.8511.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.03% at 95.36.
