Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Technology and Industrials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX rose 0.16%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were SBM Offshore (AS:SBMO), which rose 3.00% or 0.34 points to trade at 11.70 at the close. Ahold Kon (AS:AHLN) added 1.89% or 0.36 points to end at 19.45 and Royal Dutch Shell A (AS:RDSa) was up 1.87% or 0.43 points to 23.45 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ING Groep NV (AS:ING), which lost 2.83% or 0.320 points to trade at 11.000 in late trade. NN Group (AS:NN) declined 1.89% or 0.58 points to end at 30.41 and ABN AMRO Group NV (AS:ABNd) shed 1.38% or 0.26 points to 18.64.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 91 to 67 and 12 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 1.47% to 19.27.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was up 1.23% or 0.54 to $44.58 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July rose 1.40% or 0.64 to hit $46.22 a barrel, while the June Gold contract rose 0.61% or 7.55 to trade at $1250.95 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.21% to 1.1321, while EUR/GBP rose 0.43% to 0.7782.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.06% at 94.39.
