Investing.com – Japan equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Financial Services, Steel and Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 declined 0.02%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Toho Zinc Co., Ltd. (T:5707), which rose 3.09% or 13.0 points to trade at 434.0 at the close. Softbank Corp. (T:9984) added 2.74% or 239.0 points to end at 8975.5 and ANA Holdings Inc (T:9202) was up 2.37% or 8.4 points to 362.1 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Concordia Financial Group Ltd (T:7186), which lost 2.26% or 12.1 points to trade at 522.3 in late trade. Citizen Holdings Co., Ltd. (T:7762) declined 2.16% or 16.0 points to end at 725.0 and Nippon Paper Industries Co., Ltd. (T:3863) shed 2.11% or 46.0 points to 2137.0.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1659 to 1315 and 384 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 0.07% to 14.74.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for July delivery was down 0.44% or 0.22 to $49.58 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 0.78% or 0.41 to hit $52.23 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract fell 0.25% or 3.21 to trade at $1264.89 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.29% to 110.94, while EUR/JPY fell 0.47% to 123.64.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.15% at 97.48.
