Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Transportation Equipment, Marine Transport and Mining sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 gained 0.26%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were DOWA Holdings Co., Ltd. (T:5714), which rose 5.60% or 40.0 points to trade at 754.0 at the close. Yokogawa Electric Corp. (T:6841) added 3.59% or 51.0 points to end at 1473.0 and Asahi Kasei Corp. (T:3407) was up 3.20% or 26.7 points to 860.1 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tokyo Electric Power Co., Inc. (T:9501), which lost 7.89% or 33.0 points to trade at 385.5 in late trade. Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding (T:7003) declined 2.03% or 3.0 points to end at 145.0 and Showa Shell Sekiyu K.K. (T:5002) shed 1.95% or 19.0 points to 955.0.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1841 to 1031 and 410 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 0.55% to 19.90.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for November delivery was down 0.46% or 0.23 to $50.12 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in December fell 0.40% or 0.21 to hit $51.74 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.04% or 0.55 to trade at $1256.05 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.06% to 104.10, while EUR/JPY rose 0.05% to 114.43.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.12% at 97.96.
