Investing.com – Italy equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Telecoms, Oil & Gas and Financials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Milan, the Investing.com Italy 40 lost 1.11%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com Italy 40 were Yoox Net-A-Porter Group SpA (MI:YNAP), which rose 3.45% or 0.89 points to trade at 26.65 at the close. Poste Italiane SpA (MI:PST) added 3.36% or 0.2200 points to end at 6.7700 and Luxottica Group (MI:LUX) was up 1.19% or 0.58 points to 49.48 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Telecom Italia (MI:TLIT), which lost 3.73% or 0.0390 points to trade at 1.0070 in late trade. Mediaset (MI:MS) declined 3.33% or 0.126 points to end at 3.658 and Unicredit (MI:CRDI) shed 3.09% or 0.1140 points to 3.5780.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 264 to 137 and 20 ended unchanged on the Milan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for May delivery was down 3.23% or 1.34 to $40.11 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May fell 2.51% or 1.05 to hit $40.74 a barrel, while the April Gold contract fell 1.95% or 24.40 to trade at $1224.20 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.32% to 1.1181, while EUR/GBP rose 0.39% to 0.7926.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.44% at 96.09.
