Investing.com – Greece equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Retail, Banking and Food sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite lost 0.42%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Select Textile (AT:EPIr), which rose 9.92% or 0.012 points to trade at 0.133 at the close. Halcor (AT:XAKO) added 7.41% or 0.020 points to end at 0.292 and Kleeman Hellas (AT:KLEr) was up 3.90% or 0.060 points to 1.600 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Selonda Aquaculture SA (AT:SELr), which lost 9.77% or 0.0130 points to trade at 0.1200 in late trade. Quest Holdings (AT:IQTr) declined 8.57% or 0.450 points to end at 4.800 and Techn Olympic (AT:OLYr) shed 6.41% or 0.050 points to 0.730.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 42 to 36 and 17 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.40% or 5.45 to $1352.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 1.22% or 0.56 to hit $46.30 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 1.05% or 0.51 to trade at $48.86 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.80% to 1.1273, while EUR/GBP fell 0.06% to 0.8679.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.77% at 94.84.
