Investing.com – Greece equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Basic Resources, Oil & Gas and Industrials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite fell 0.03%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were J. & P. Avax (AT:AVAr), which rose 8.82% or 0.030 points to trade at 0.370 at the close. Piraeus Bank SA (AT:BOPr) added 4.55% or 0.010 points to end at 0.230 and Elliniki Technodomiki Anemos SA (AT:ANEMr) was up 4.37% or 0.030 points to 0.717 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bank of Cyprus PCL (AT:BOCr), which lost 5.23% or 0.009 points to trade at 0.163 in late trade. Marfin Invest (AT:MRFr) declined 3.78% or 0.007 points to end at 0.178 and Centric Hold (AT:DESr) shed 3.48% or 0.004 points to 0.111.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 55 to 41 and 12 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was down 0.26% or 3.35 to $1269.15 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.82% or 0.41 to hit $49.44 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 0.85% or 0.43 to trade at $50.19 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.39% to 1.1285, while EUR/GBP rose 0.04% to 0.7675.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.29% at 93.89.
