Investing.com – Greece equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Banking, Retail and Industrials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite gained 0.21% to hit a new 52-week high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Revoil Petrol (AT:REVr), which rose 11.11% or 0.040 points to trade at 0.400 at the close. National Bank of Greece (AT:NBGr) added 8.00% or 0.02 points to end at 0.27 and Eurobank Ergasias SA (AT:EURBr) was up 3.01% or 0.020 points to 0.684 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Athens Medical (AT:AMCr), which lost 4.61% or 0.029 points to trade at 0.600 in late trade. Techn Olympic (AT:OLYr) declined 3.85% or 0.040 points to end at 1.000 and Attica Bank SA (AT:BOAr) shed 2.38% or 0.001 points to 0.041.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 58 to 40 and 15 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for February delivery was down 0.51% or 6.05 to $1179.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 2.42% or 1.23 to hit $52.05 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 2.48% or 1.33 to trade at $54.97 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.92% to 1.0459, while EUR/GBP fell 0.01% to 0.8667.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.85% at 102.88.
