Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Retail, Consumer & Cyclical and Technology sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.86% to hit a new 6-month high, while the MDAX index climbed 0.96%, and the TecDAX index climbed 0.89%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG), which rose 4.05% or 0.610 points to trade at 15.655 at the close. Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn) added 2.61% or 0.390 points to end at 15.325 and Siemens AG NA (DE:SIEGn) was up 1.90% or 2.000 points to 107.450 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (DE:LHAG), which lost 0.41% or 0.045 points to trade at 10.810 in late trade. Allianz SE VNA O.N. (DE:ALVG) declined 0.22% or 0.300 points to end at 135.600 and Henkel & Co KGaA AG Pref (DE:HNKG) 0.00% or 0.000 points to 113.000.
The top performers on the MDAX were Symrise AG Inh. O.N. (DE:SY1G) which rose 5.45% to 68.720, Zalando SE (DE:ZALG) which was up 5.40% to settle at 35.94 and Hella KGaA Hueck & Co (DE:HLE) which gained 3.35% to close at 34.83.
The worst performers were K+S AG NA O.N. (DE:SDFGn) which was down 5.62% to 18.735 in late trade, Stroeer SE (DE:SAXG) which lost 3.02% to settle at 43.125 and Aareal Bank AG (DE:ARLG) which was down 2.95% to 29.590 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Freenet AG NA (DE:FNTGn) which rose 4.97% to 26.635, Drillisch AG (DE:DRIG) which was up 4.16% to settle at 38.800 and Slm Solution G (DE:AM3D) which gained 3.92% to close at 27.70.
The worst performers were SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which was down 8.15% to 34.950 in late trade, Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which lost 3.45% to settle at 15.545 and GFT Technologies AG (DE:GFTG) which was down 2.06% to 20.250 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 567 to 325 and 25 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was unchanged 0.00% to 17.92.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.08% or 1.05 to $1352.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 4.65% or 1.94 to hit $43.65 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 4.63% or 2.04 to trade at $46.09 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.13% to 1.1165, while EUR/GBP rose 0.24% to 0.8613.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.06% at 95.65.
