Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Food & Beverages, Basic Resources and Media sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX gained 0.40%, while the MDAX index added 1.34%, and the TecDAX index added 1.04%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Bayerische Motoren Werke AG (DE:BMWG), which rose 1.96% or 1.630 points to trade at 84.920 at the close. Linde AG O.N. (DE:LING) added 1.82% or 3.10 points to end at 173.05 and Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (DE:VOWG_p) was up 1.50% or 2.00 points to 135.75 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Deutsche Telekom AG Na (DE:DTEGn), which lost 2.51% or 0.445 points to trade at 17.280 in late trade. Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG) declined 1.44% or 0.340 points to end at 23.270 and Deutsche Boerse AG (DE:DB1Gn) shed 0.70% or 0.650 points to 91.830.
The top performers on the MDAX were Norma Group AG NA O.N. (DE:NOEJ) which rose 2.94% to 48.805, Airbus Group SE (F:AIRG) which was up 2.93% to settle at 75.301 and Duerr AG (DE:DUEG) which gained 2.86% to close at 99.870.
The worst performers were Aareal Bank AG (DE:ARLG) which was down 4.51% to 35.550 in late trade, STADA Arzneimittel VNA O.N. (DE:STAGn) which lost 0.62% to settle at 64.000 and Hochtief AG (DE:HOTG) which was unchanged 0.00% to 163.75 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which rose 8.42% to 27.300, S&T AG (F:SANT1) which was up 5.54% to settle at 13.480 and Xing AG (DE:OBCGn) which gained 4.48% to close at 249.45.
The worst performers were Drillisch AG (DE:DRIG) which was down 0.66% to 55.880 in late trade, Dialog Semiconductor (DE:DLGS) which lost 0.22% to settle at 42.400 and Freenet AG NA (DE:FNTGn) which was up 0.05% to 31.800 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 493 to 261 and 17 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 7.33% to 12.45.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.64% or 8.19 to $1263.81 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 1.63% or 0.79 to hit $49.11 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 1.26% or 0.64 to trade at $51.40 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.25% to 1.1216, while EUR/GBP fell 0.30% to 0.8698.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.20% at 97.10.
