Investing.com – Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Financials, Real Estate and Consumption sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa gained 1.30%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Petroleo Brasileiro SA (SA:PETR4), which rose 7.52% or 0.75 points to trade at 10.72 at the close. Meanwhile, Petroleo Brasileiro SA (SA:PETR3) added 7.47% or 0.82 points to end at 11.80 and Telefonica Brasil SA (SA:VIVT4) was up 6.60% or 2.74 points to 44.24 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Cia Energetica de Sao Paulo (SA:CESP6), which fell 3.88% or 0.72 points to trade at 17.84 at the close. Braskem SA (SA:BRKM5) declined 3.78% or 0.46 points to end at 11.72 and Estacio Participacoes SA (SA:ESTC3) was down 3.32% or 0.55 points to 16.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 169 to 123 and 11 ended unchanged.
Shares in Cia Energetica de Sao Paulo (SA:CESP6) fell to 52-week lows; down 3.88% or 0.72 to 17.84.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 7.69% to 36.61.
Gold for December delivery was up 0.03% or 0.30 to $1097.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to hit $48.80 a barrel, while the September US coffee C contract rose 1.21% or 1.45 to trade at $121.72 .
USD/BRL was down 0.97% to 3.3249, while EUR/BRL fell 1.62% to 3.6535.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.00% at 97.23.
