Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Consumption, Financials and Industrials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa declined 0.37%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5), which rose 5.49% or 0.10 points to trade at 1.92 at the close. Estacio Participacoes SA (SA:ESTC3) added 4.68% or 0.65 points to end at 14.54 and Vale SA (SA:VALE3) was up 4.00% or 0.65 points to 16.89 in late trade.
Biggest losers included JBS SA (SA:JBSS3), which lost 3.52% or 0.38 points to trade at 10.41 in late trade. Tim Participacoes SA (SA:TIMP3) declined 2.69% or 0.19 points to end at 6.88 and Cia Energetica de Sao Paulo (SA:CESP6) shed 2.40% or 0.30 points to 12.20.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 181 to 118 and 23 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 1.56% to 37.10.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was up 0.45% or 5.55 to $1248.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 2.30% or 1.12 to hit $49.74 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract rose 3.62% or 4.60 to trade at $131.60 .
USD/BRL was down 0.98% to 3.4893, while EUR/BRL fell 1.04% to 3.9642.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.11% at 94.00.
