Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Consumption, Financials and Real Estate sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa fell 0.16%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5), which rose 5.92% or 0.17 points to trade at 3.04 at the close. Vale SA (SA:VALE3) added 5.74% or 1.00 points to end at 18.42 and Vale SA (SA:VALE5) was up 4.29% or 0.60 points to 14.59 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA:SUZB5), which lost 2.69% or 0.29 points to trade at 10.51 in late trade. Raia Drogasil SA (SA:RADL3) declined 2.59% or 1.660 points to end at 62.320 and Smiles ON (SA:SMLE3) shed 2.06% or 1.11 points to 52.89.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 170 to 121 and 26 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 1.31% to 33.17.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.04% or 0.50 to $1327.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 1.02% or 0.44 to hit $42.69 a barrel, while the September US coffee C contract rose 0.17% or 0.24 to trade at $141.62 .
USD/BRL was up 0.02% to 3.2742, while EUR/BRL rose 0.04% to 3.5976.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.11% at 97.17.
