Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Financials, Real Estate and Consumption sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa gained 2.40%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5), which rose 7.84% or 0.29 points to trade at 3.99 at the close. Estacio Participacoes SA (SA:ESTC3) added 6.10% or 0.96 points to end at 16.70 and BM&FBovespa SA (SA:BVMF3) was up 5.62% or 1.04 points to 19.55 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Fibria Celulose SA (SA:FIBR3), which lost 4.86% or 1.40 points to trade at 27.43 in late trade. Braskem SA (SA:BRKM5) declined 2.81% or 0.90 points to end at 31.09 and Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA:SUZB5) shed 1.42% or 0.18 points to 12.46.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 222 to 143 and 31 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 1.14% to 34.54.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.19% or 2.50 to $1286.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 0.85% or 0.45 to hit $52.73 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract rose 1.64% or 2.32 to trade at $143.57 .
USD/BRL was down 1.27% to 3.1048, while EUR/BRL unchanged 0.00% to 3.3370.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.29% at 100.20.
