* The Toronto Stock Exchange's TSX falls 0.22 percent to 18,628.29
* Leading the index were Vermilion Energy Inc
* Lagging shares were Lithium Americas Corp, down 7.6%, Sunopta Inc, down 7.4%, and Village Farms International Inc, lower by 7.1%.
* On the TSX 77 issues rose and 150 fell as a 0.5-to-1 ratio favored decliners. There were 5 new highs and no new lows, with total volume of 237.2 million shares.
* The most heavily traded shares by volume were Tc Energy Corp, Canadian Natural Resources Ltd and Toronto-dominion Bank.
* The TSX's energy group rose 3.85 points, or 3.4%, while the financials sector climbed 0.58 points, or 0.2%.
* West Texas Intermediate crude futures rose 5.37%, or $3.1, to $60.86 a barrel. Brent crude rose 5.48%, or $3.33, to $64.12 [O/R]
* The TSX is up 6.9% for the year.
