U.S. net long dollars fall in latest week -CFTC, Reuters
July 19 (Reuters) - Speculators cut their net long dollar position in the latest week, according to calculations by Reuters and U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission data released on Friday.
The value of the dollar's net long position, derived from net positions of International Monetary Market speculators in the yen, euro, British pound, Swiss franc and Canadian and Australian dollars, fell to $15.20 billion in the week ending July 16, from $15.48 billion the previous week.
It has fallen from $38.88 billion in April.
In a wider measure of dollar positioning NETUSDALL= that includes net contracts on the New Zealand dollar, Mexican peso, Brazilian real and Russian ruble, the U.S. dollar posted a net long position valued at $11.66 billion, the lowest since June 2018 and down from $12.38 billion a week earlier.
The dollar index .DXY has fallen from a two-year high on May 23 on growing expectations that the Federal Reserve is closer to cutting interest rates, which is now seen as certain when the U.S. central bank meets on July 30-31.
