Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Paper & Pulp, Optoelectronic and Information Services sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.14%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Altek Corp (TW:3059), which rose 10.00% or 3.05 points to trade at 33.55 at the close. Dah San Electric Wire & Cable Co Ltd (TW:1615) added 10.00% or 1.20 points to end at 13.20 and Ching Feng Home Fashions Co Ltd (TW:9935) was up 9.96% or 2.45 points to 27.05 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Yulon Nissan Motor Co Ltd (TW:2227), which lost 7.77% or 22.00 points to trade at 261.00 in late trade. Chia Chang Co Ltd (TW:4942) declined 6.07% or 1.50 points to end at 23.20 and AOPEN Inc (TW:3046) shed 5.14% or 0.19 points to 3.51.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 390 to 387 and 99 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for October delivery was down 0.29% or 0.14 to $47.69 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 0.29% or 0.15 to hit $51.72 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.07% or 0.92 to trade at $1291.92 a troy ounce.

USD/TWD was down 0.01% to 30.287, while TWD/CNY fell 0.05% to 0.2199.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.05% at 93.47.
